Does anyone else do this?

LO falls asleep at about 8 each evening.  He is often out like a little light until 12.  We want to go to bed at 10 or 11.  So, to have him wake up only  1-2 hrs later is a little hard.  Then, he is up at 4 and sometimes doesn't go back to sleep.  Today (well...really, Friday night), we woke him up to feed him right before we went to bed at about 10:30.  It has worked like a charm today anyway...he slept from 11 to 3:45.   I am now feeding him and he is falling asleep while nursing.   I should also mention that DS hasn't gained weight as he needs to.  He is doing better now, but the first 3 weeks were way under...so, it had been 4 hours since he had last eaten, when we woke him to feed him.  I'm not trying to "schedule" the kid or anything, but would love for his longest stretch of sleep to be at night vs in the evening, when we are awake anyway.  So, I hope this is what we are accomplishing.  Anyone else wake to feed before bed?  Have you had good luck with this?  Bad luck?

Re: Does anyone else do this?

  • i do what's called a dream feed, I feed her before I go to bed, but never really waking her up. If u do it at 11, She usually sleeps until 630. I was skeptical about it, but I love it now!
  • Loading the player...
  • I've tried and it doesn' work with her. She'll eat but she still wakes up at the time she usually would.

I just now go to sleep when she does. Try going to bed earlier.

  • Sort of, our little lady was waking up around 9:30 for her last feeding so I have tried slowly shifting her feedings during the day to little bit later or added in one as you have so that her last feeding is now around 10:30 and then she tends to sleep til about 2:30 and goes back to sleep til about 5:30 and then sometimes sleeps again until 9am sometimes not so much.  I think as long as you are still feeding him when he is hungry waking him up for ten minutes to "top him off" so you can sleep a little longer is probably fine.  Good Luck!
