We had some leftover BRU money on a gift card, got it as a gift...we didn't know what else to buy, so we got a play mat. It has something that you put in one corner, and it's got a mirror. It has these little animals that you push, and it plays music. I think it's helping his development, he's only 5 weeks old and a pro at that thing. He pushes the things when the music stops, to get it going again...

I hadn't planned on getting one--I was planning on just going to put a blanket on the ground for him--but we got a nice hand-me-down from someone. DS already seems to like the toys that hang on it, so I think it would be a good buy for you. I can only imagine he'll get more interested in all the other things on it as he gets older.
I wasn't going to buy one because they are so damn expensive. How come those things cost $50-$65??? My SIL gave me my niece's old one, or else we wouldn't have one.
However, it is currently sitting in the garage, we haven't used it yet. I keep intending to get it out for DD but haven't done so yet. Eh. Maybe I'll do it tonight.
A couple weeks ago DS started to enjoy his play mat. He smiles so big when he hits or kicks the hanging toys and it gives me a chance to make some lunch.

Yes, we used one. It was GREAT. Soft, had toys to hang above her. I loved it.
We only recently stopped using it because she kept rolling off it.
