Babies: 0 - 3 Months

sleeping after eating

my two week old has recently started not falling asleep after eating, she's not hungry anymore and falls asleep for a couple minutes after eating but then will wake up and usually stay awake until her next feeding (2-3 hrs later) just a few days ago she would always eat and then fall asleep until her next feeding. Everywhere i read says that newborns usually sleep most of the time and are awake for feedings only mostly. Is anyone else having this happen with their babies? I'm happy to have her be awake so i can spend time with her, but she's cranky most of the time she's awake because i know she must be tired, she just won't stay asleep.

Re: sleeping after eating

  • Mine stays awake between one set of feedings throughout the day - usually in the morning and then for maybe an hour in the evening.  This just started a few days ago...they change quickly!

  • A. you can't necessarily say that your dose of "1.6" is the same as someone elses, unless you've got actual units, not "1/2 of the medicine thing", you know?

    B. honestly I wouldnt worry about it, I dont think. Med companies always under estimate the amount that you should take. Like, if you gave a dose every 1 hr 15 minutes like ten times in a row, then that would be bad. But once, I think you're ok.
