So I had 2 episiotomies and tore past them; basically I was open from my vag all the way back to my rectum. I got a LOT of stitches, and have been in a lot of pain. My doctor prescribed Percocet and Motrin for pain. Well, I'm out of Percocet, and I called my doctor's office to ask for a refill and they said no. They told me I was too far out, and that I should've only needed it for the first few days home.
Well, these past couple days my pain has actually gotten worse, and I need more drugs! I've checked down there with a mirror and it's not red or enflamed, but it just hurts and I'm worried because I can barely move around as it is. So now I'm stuck with Motrin, and I hope it helps. If by Tuesday I'm still hurting like I am now, I'm going in to see my doctor and have him take a look.
I'm just so frustrated, even with Percocet I've been in tears the past few days from hurting so bad. My only other option is to go to the ER, which I really don't want to do.
Re: Ugh (whine)
I had the same thing- my epi pain got worse about 5 days out. I went in to see my OB for an exam it hurt so much. Basically, I was walking too much and irritating the area. Try to keep the area dry- if you can sleep on your stomach and air it out. I placed an absorbent pad on the bed so I could go sans panties. I think that was really irresponsible for your OB to tell you you're too far out to get more pain meds- they should know better. I hope your pain gets better & you do not have to wait until Tuesday
Good luck- you definitley need better pain control.
Look at your LO! Congrats! He is absolutely adorable! I missed that you had him.
I had a third degree tear, got stitched up for an hour, and they forgot to give me my prescription. The discharge paper said that I was supposed to be taking Motrin, so I went to the store and bought the 200mg instead of the prescribed 600mg.
They mailed me the prescription over a week later. I wasn't too happy about that.
Sitz baths might help if you haven't tried them yet.
Also, ice helped me a lot. One of the nurses said they make a small slit at the end of a diaper and put ice on the inside of it, then tape the slit back up. I never noticed the tape, and it felt wonderful. Just apply straight to the area. I wish I could help more. My vagina just stopped hurting last week and now my uterus is giving me severe pain again that even the medicine won't help completely.
