I think it's called that b/c that's what little Jon Kennedy wore a lot. I think I'm right. Those little smocked outfit-types. I've seen them more as just shirts and short sets, not a one piece outfit. Some are cute, but I wouldn't dress my son in them regularly.

If I ever had a boy you couldn't PAY me to put those on him. My MIL is a wonderful seamstress but she's quite old & we have different ::ahem:: taste. She has made soooo many smocked dresses for my girls. I totally appreciate the gesture & the work that goes into them but oy- lets just say I'm glad she lives across the country because they only wear them when they see her. I am not a girly girl, nor do I dress my girls like one

I like them for kids under 2 or so. Not the smocked kind, but the plain ones or sailor suit ones. They're adorable on little babies.
