Q about projectile vomiting

What is considered projectile?  Is it force or amount?  Once or twice a day DD will burp up what looks like a half an ounce or so but it's not forceful and she doesn't bat an eye.  It's always immediately after coming off the breast - could it be overfeed?  I'm constantly worrying about AR, but she's having plenty of soiled diapers and gaining about an oz a day so I have tried not to obsess.

Re: Q about projectile vomiting

  • projectile is force.

Try not to worry about AR. If she's gaining and doesn't seem in pain, I wouldn't worry about it.

  • My DD would vomit about 5 to 6 feet across the room.  I considered that projectile.  She was also very colicky/upset about it and got an AR diagnosis.

My DS seems to be more of a happy spitter. . . he spits up (a lot sometimes), but never seems in pain.

  • We have a happy spitter too. He only does it once every couple of days now, and usually passes right out afterwords, wet sleeper and all. As long as she's not upset by it and is gaining weight, its nothing to worry about.
    So it goes.

projectile is where it shoots across the room. When you see it, you'll know it. I had a projectile vomiter. It's as fun as it sounds.
