I had post partum pre-e which put me in ICU for four days after Little Lobster was born. Those were the worst four days of our married life. Lobster had no idea how to care for a baby and was "baptized by fire" into daddyhood, I couldn't do for my baby or husband as I felt I should, I could go on all day. In short, it was a nightmare.
At my two week appointment I asked the doctor the likelihood of a recurrance in a later pregnancy. He said textbook is 25% but in his experience 50%.
This has us looking at whether we want to risk my health for another child. (Yes I know adoption is always an option, but I'm talking about my carrying another child.)
I know it's too early to make a decision about this, but if you had pre-e, have you changed your opinion on future pregnancies?
Re: Anyone else have pre-e?
I had pre-e but not to the extreme you had.. if that makes sense.
My Ob told me that they will just have to watch me closer for signs next time around. So I guess i'll be HIgh risk the next pregnancy.
It was scary and we where induced at 38wk5days.
