Dissolving Prevacid

Anyone know of any tricks to give Prevacid soluble tabs to an infant? The Pedi told me to dissolve the 15mg tablet in 15 ml of apple juice, then give 7.5ml of the liquid, in turn giving 7.5mg of the medicine.  Unfortunately this is easier said than done.  The tabet dissolve just fine, but is a grainy substance so it settles at the bottom of the dish I use to dissolve it.  This make is really difficult to be sure I am getting half the meds when I take 7.5ml of the juice.  The granules of medicine also get stuck inside the syringe I use to give to LO.  I've tried cutting the pill in half and dissolving in half the liquid, using a dropper instead of a syringe, but stil don't know if LOis getting the correct dosage.  This medication must not come in a liquid form... does anyone know? TIA for any input or advice.  I just want my LO to get these meds so we can hopefully get his AR under control.

Re: Dissolving Prevacid

  • I couldn't get them to dissolve without leaving granules stuck at the bottom as well.  Now I just break the pill in half and put it in his mouth and let it dissolve, MUCH BETTER and easier on both of us : )
