Babies: 0 - 3 Months

amount of time swaddled

The instructions for the Miracle Blanket say no more than 10 hrs per 24 hr period, and not more than 8 hrs at a time.  D2 will sleep 9 hrs at night, in the MB.  So now I don't know what to do.  Does this regulation pertain to regular swaddles as well?  I understand the precaution but I'm nervous that if we don't use the MB she wont sleep as long, ha!

My daugher will only take naps and sleep at night while swaddled, if not she wakes up in less than 5 minutes. I think as long as your LO is getting plenty of "unswaddled" time while awake during the day so they can wiggle and move as much as they want you are fine. I think they just don't want people to keep their LO swaddled all day and all night long.

ITA. We only swaddle to get her to sleep, she won't sleep longer than 10 min otherwise.

  • We swaddled DD for sleep up to 5.5 months. Every time she needed a nap and bedtime. This totalled up to 20 hours a day in the beginning, and still 15+ hours a day at 5 months. It's fine!!! Whatever DD needs to sleep.

And I'll be doing it again with DC#2.
