Babies: 0 - 3 Months

if you pump at work i have a question for you...

i came back to work yesterday and pump twice a day (10 am & 2 pm). after the 2 pm pump i just rinse the pump parts and toss them in my bag to clean when i get home but after the 10 am pump i have to clean them (since i need them at 2).

i feel so weird standing in the break room washing them (i try to be as discrete as possible) but still, it's odd. any tips?

  • If you have a fridge at work you can just put them in there...mine are in a tupperware in the office fridge right now. Or Medela makes some wipes you can use.

  • Breastmilk stays good at room temperature for 8-10 hours.  Therefore, my pump accessories should too.  I put them in a ziploc and just keep them with my pump.  I wash them after work.
  • take a small bottle of dish soap and wash them in the bathroom? that is what I would do but our office has a small sink in an area that no one goes to...
  • all great ideas!! thanks!

  • I pump in my car (I'm in sales), so I don't have access to soap and water.  The medela wipes have worked well for me.  Good luck!

  • Someone posted on the BF board that Target has a generic version of the wipes that are a lot cheaper than the Medela ones.  Might save a few of you some $$!
