New Orleans Babies

Looking for an OB Please Help!

Hi I am 20 weeks pregnant and need to find an OB in New Orleans. I'm a military wife and my husband got orders to report to New Orleans literally 12 days before my due date. Obviously I will be going down there before hand since I'm currently in North Carolina and won't be able to travel that far that pregnant. But any recommendations on a good OB would be great! I'm desperate to find a good doctor that will be willing to see me so late in my pregnancy.

Re: Looking for an OB Please Help!

  • My OB is Dr Kennedy at East Jefferson- He was great throughout my whole pregnancy and delivery.  Good luck!

  • My OB is Dr. Lisa Colon at Tulane Lakeside Hospital.  She delivered my first and did an awesome job.  She has great bedside manner and has the patients best interests in mind at all times.  Dr. Amy Grace is another good one my friends swear by.
  • Try Lakeside Womens Specialty Center.  Dr. Bone is incredible. She delivered DS.  I've also seen Dr. Wild and she is great.

Where will you be living? That might make a difference.

I had a high risk pregnancy, so my answer probably won't be relevant to you, but I delivered at Ochsner. My current OB is Dr Byrd.

  • I love Dr. George (Jody) Morris, IV at Ochsner!!
  • I see Dr. Rebecca Perret.  She's part of Crescent City Physicians at Touro.  There are a few other doctors in the practice as well.  I switched to her when I was about 22 weeks pregnant from my previous OB.  She is amazing!  She's very down-to-earth, very friendly and I love knowing that she understands where I am coming from (as far as being a woman and mother).  She delivered my daughter and was great at helping me thru my med-free delivery - she knew what I wanted and was both understanding and a great cheerleader.  I cannot recommend her enough.  Switching mid-pregnancy was not a problem at all.
  • I'm no help, because I'm from about an hour south of NOLA. I just wanted to welcome you to LA and wish you luck with your pregnancy!
  • I also recommend Crescent City Physicians.  I see Dr. Paul dutreil, but I have also had Dr. Perret check up on me with my previous pregnancies and they both have excellent bedside manner.  I find duTreil to be very easy to talk to. He's a laid back kind of guy that makes me feel very comfortable since I tend to freak out about everything.

I live in Kenner which is about 13 miles from their practice which is in Touro Infirmary in New Orleans.  It takes me about half and hour to get there but I think they are worth it.  And Touro is an older hospital, but it is clean and the nurses that tend to you treat you as if you are the only patient they have. Your not just a number.

Good luck! And if you end up in my area, email me if you have questions and i'll give you my name on facebook.!

  • I go to Crescent City Physicians as well. Dr von Almen - I love him!
  • I CURRENTLY SEEING DR. JANET ROSS AT TOURO BUT MY MOM IS INSISTING I SEE DR.PERRET SHE IS AN AMAZING DOCTOR FROM WHAT MY MOM TELL ME AND SEEING SOMEONE ON HERE TALK ABOUT HER I MAY JUST SWITCH DOCTORS

  • my ob is dr. lisa colon as well, been going to her for about 7 years.  She is very attentive, and i am sure her office can fit you in.. her # is 504-889-7652

  • My friends aunt is a delivery nurse at Lakeside-Tulane and recommended both Dr Grace and Dr Colon.  My friend goes to Dr Colon and I'm going to Dr Amy Grace.  Actually, Dr Grace helped Dr Colon with my friends C-Section 2.5 years ago. They both seem down to earth but I am going to Dr Grace because Dr Colon's office was a bit hectic for me.
  • I go to Dr Brandon Perez in West Jeff. Which base are you going to be assigned to? Im active duty and west jeff is usually where they send us to. I really like Dr P. Good luck
  • Rebecca Perret is a fabulous OB. She is in New Orleans at Touro...also a great hospital to birth at.
  • I've been seeing Dr William von Almen II since I was 17 years old.  I'm now 32 and have followed him through 3 different locations.  He's now at Touro Hospital with Crescent City Physicians.  My sister worked with him for many years as a labor and delivery nurse, and she can't say enough nice things about his delivery bedside manner.  I highly recommend him.
