green beans

This may be an odd question - I pureed green beans yesterday and tried to feed it to my LO.  He just made a yucky face and attempted to eat them but I could tell that he didn't like the taste.  He has been a good eater thus far and has liked his other vegetables.

I didn't strain the green beans puree but I am thinking that I will try that today and give it another try.  I wanted to see if he would eat them un-strained. Here's my odd question - will I just be left with a watery green bean juice or will it still be thick enough?  I would rather not have to thicken it up with cereal.  Just curious as to how other moms made their green bean puree.  Thanks ladies!

Re: green beans

  • I have kind of a wide strainer (not a tight mesh, more open). I just push the puree through with the back of a spoon and that usually gets me a pretty fine puree. I also save the green bean chunks that don't push through the strainer and mix them in with something else- DD never notices.  :)

Thanks for the tips!  I will try using a wide strainer - I was going to use a tight mesh one.  I like the tip for saving the chunks - great idea and nothing will go to waste.  Did you also freeze the green bean chunks?  I think that I will have a lot of chunks after I strain them.  Thanks again!
