Nursing to sleep question....

I've read a few posts recently where some people have said that at the night feeding (for bedtime routine) they nurse their LO to sleep.  I was just curious to find out if when you nurse LO to sleep, do you still burp him/her?  Usually at our bedtime feeding, LO does tend to dose off towards the end of the feeding, but when I burp her, she wakes back up.

  • I burp her. I found if I didn't she was more likely to spit up when I laid her down.

She dozes back off quickly, if she even wakes up.

  • I usually only burp him if we are switching sides.  He is usually wide awake again after I try to burp him.

  • I don't. But DD doesn't have any problems with gas/spitting up...I would think differently if she did.

This mostly.  My DD is pretty neat in that she has these cues.  If she's got a burp in there she won't doze off.  And she'll squirm and fidget (even if her eyes are closed), so I burp her and she usually falls asleep on my shoulder while I'm patting her back.  but other nights she just passes out while she's eating and then I just lay her down.  (P.S. We FF but we give a bottle for a bed time routine).
