California Baby Sunscreen

Is California Baby the one that leaves a white film on the skin?

Re: California Baby Sunscreen

  • Yes. I like it for times like outside playing in the yard all day, but I personally wouldn't use it for the beach. We've tried it and it was a disaster. We're all very prone to sunburn, and it did not protect as well as some of the mainstream brands. I will not be taking any natural sunscreen to the beach this summer. We ARE very pale and get burns very, very easily, so for some people it's probably fine.
  • It's white when you put it on but it rubs in okay. I've never noticed a white film.  (Of course, we're a pastey, white family so maybe it just blends in with our regular skin tone and I don't notice it!)

  • Pretty much every single natural sunscreen I've ever used leaves a white film so I wouldn't expect California Baby to be any different. It's because they're based on zinc and/or titanium dioxide.
  • Blue Lizard and neutrogena free & clear baby also leave a white film, but I don't care.  I don't think it looks that bad (on kids.)
