Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Serves that B**** right!!!

Ugh I'm still super pissed! I went to the grocery with my 3 week old to get some food (obviously) while I was in the produce section some lady comes over and says "oh my! What a fat baby" then tries to pinch my babys cheeks. I slapped away her hand and said " my baby isn't fat sweetheat. YOU are!" omg I couldn't stop myself she made me so mad. She wasn't saying it in a nice way. And how could u say that in a nice way anyway. I was even shaking afterwards. Damn stupid lady. Ok rant over

  • I HATE the people that also think it's ok to TOUCH the baby. Does this newborn want your germs? NO.
  • oooo, what a dirty snatch!! Good for you for having said what you said!

  • Ha, a bit of harsh reaction but you are running on fumes at 3 weeks!

I was at Target with DS when he was about 4 weeks and I was changing him in the restroom.  He was crying and a lady walked by, oohing and aahing.  I mentioned something about him being hungry too and she said "Oh I wouldn't worry about rushing home, it looks like he has enough meat on his bones to last awhile."

I thought it was actually pretty hysterical that someone would be rude enought to say this but whatever, in the grand scheme do I really care or take to heart what some random stranger in the Target restroom has to say?  And did she really mean it in a bad way, probably not.  A lot of people think fat, chubby babies = healthy, well-taken care of babies.

  • You're kind of a biitch yourself.  Holy hell.

LOLOLOL. People are idiots. Serves her right!

1st of all why the hell would you touch someone you don't know? 2nd who the hell is she to make comments about your child?

What, people don't slap each other and call strangers fat in your produce section?

  • Yeah, I probably would have had the same reaction. I don't care what anyone else says, if someone said something in a mean way about their kid they would have had the same reaction. And then she had the audacity to try and touch her! I'm fuming for you!

Ha.  If you can actually condone slapping a stranger and calling her fat (to the point of finding it LOLOLOLOLOL funny), then your opinion is pretty worthless to me.  But thanks!

I feel like it was not okay for anyone to call her baby fat, let alone try and touch her baby. Slapping may have been over the line, but maybe next time that lady will think about her actions before hand.

  • I didn't really slap her hand. More like I shoved it away kinda hard before she tried to touch my son. The lady's comment was rude and mean. Therefore I could care less how she felt. And if I did sounded mean whatev! She shouldn't say anything she can't take!

Exactly. I wonder why people think it is okay to touch a stranger's baby and comment on their weight? I can't imagine anyone going up and doing that to a toddler or an adult.

Toledo whatever the hell - if YOU condone calling a random baby fat and then attempting to pinch thier cheeks ok you are an idiot.

  • Wow. You are totally nucking futz.

Calling a baby fat is always a compliment.  You're just psycho.

  • Hahahaha LMAO MCC. Love you!

  • Psh, I love that my baby is chubby. Not that I don't agree with you that random strangers should never just walk up and touch your child, but the weight comment I'm sure was only intended to be code for cute. Fat=healthy in my book when it comes to a new baby. It just means your feeding him right!

LOL that if I don't condone a stranger's actions, my only options are to assault and insult him/her.  Basic human decency seems to be flying over your head here, MCC

    Holy overreaction.

Chill. No more shoving/slapping/otherwise assaulting strangers. It's just plain weird.

  • I think I'd be more irritated that she tried touching my baby's face than calling him fat. DS weight is not a reflection of my own, but some ppl may take it as such. I wish ppl would realize it's not OK to touch a strangers baby, let alone their face!

  • What was her reaction to that? I bet she felt terrible. I kinda feel bad for her. =(
  • Surprise wow poor lady, I'm sure she meant no harm but you certainly did!
  • You're correct.  It did serve her right.  I would have been livid.  Why does she think that it's okay to say that and they attempt to touch someone's kid?  I hate when people make negative comments about a baby's appearance.  Everyone keeps asking me if my baby is short or saying she's so small (that one doesn't really bother me too much) or she needs to eat more.  Sorry but my pedi must be a quack job because according to her LO is perfect.

This.  I kind of think the OP over-reacted a little...

*dies* I thought I was the only one who noticed that.

OP, I think you completely overreacted. Most babies are fat, and that's what makes them so cute (not saying skinny babies aren't cute). There are better ways to handle situations like that.

This.  So many people call my LO fat.  I smile, say he's healthy, thank you, and walk away.  I've never put my hands on someone else.

  • Wow. Talk about an over reaction... o_O

Something in this post reminds me of this...

Babies are supposed to be fat. It's not like she was calling YOU fat.

    Get over yourself.

  • Umm, OP judging from his pic, your child IS fat. Its a good thing. Babies with their little fat rolls and baby chub are cute and healthy! You completely overeacted here. I don't condone her touching your child w/o permission but damn, she was paying you a compliment!

  • i can't stand when people try to touch my LO. sorry, but i don't know where your hands have been!

  • Wow, I wish my produce section was this exciting.  OP was definitely out of line, and I certainly hope she learns to keep her hands to herself, I doubt she wants to teach her LO a physical response is okay if they feel insulted.

And really, it's not an insult.  Your baby IS fat, and that's perfectly fine/cute/normal.  Eesh.

    Holy hell. Anger management issues.

And "she started it" as an excuse to call her fat is beyond immature.

  • oh, how i pray for the day someone says my baby is fat or chubby... LO has been having weight gaining issues... be happy youre not dealing with that and take the compliment! i was so happy when my daughter got rolls on her legs... and i think its absolutely adorable! my MIL and i were actually talking about how only babys can look cute and get away with being chunky and having rolls just a few weeks ago... havent you seen a baby before???
