Breastfeeding

Not ready to wean but...

I have a toe fungus that has migrated to my thumb, and the medicine I have to take is not safe to take while breastfeeding.  I'm so upset breastfeeding is going great its Mommy and Wyatt time, I'm pumping at work with no problem maintaining my supply.  But I'm paranoid about spreading the fungus to my son.  Anyways I have an appt June 18 so I guess I have to wean by then, I'm just looking for some encouragement.  Thanks for letting my vent :(.

I take it this is Griseofulvin? That stinks so much! I know you have to take it for a longer time period (6 weeks?), is it too long to pump and dump? They won't let you do an antifungal cream topically in the mean time? What if you applied the cream once at night and put socks and gloves on top to keep in place? Could this possibly keep it at a dull roar and not spread until your child is a year old? I am so sorry dear!
  • Is there anything else they can do? I would be so upset about that. For me, BFing is a one shot thing and I wouldn't want anything to stop me if there's something else that can be done.
