And Riley is boys name to me. I see a lot of people struggle on here with boys names because quite a few have been girly-fied. Makenna is definitely a girls name, but nms.
I never liked Makenna, but we just got back from Maui and we stayed at Makena Beach which was just gorgeous. I told DH, it would be cute to use that as a name since we stayed there while pregnant. Then we ran into a woman on the beach with a little girl she named Makena after the beach
This seems 90s Trendy to me. It might be declining in popularity now, but both were popular in the 90s, so your daughter certainly wouldn't have a unique name.

To me it is the opposite: Riley is either a girl's name or a dog.

I think Riley is very cute, but I don't think it flows well with Makenna.
I worked with a woman whose granddaughter was Riley Grace. I thought that was pretty.
I love Riley! DH and I were set on that name (spelled Ryleigh though) until my cousin named their baby Rylie.
I don't think it's a boys name at all--for the most part names that end in "y" or have the long "e" sound at the end don't sound very masculine to me.
Riley is a boy name and should stay that way. (By the way, I love it for a boy! It is my youngest's middle name after my FIL)
Makenna is nms.

Agree. I like Riley better for a boy, but it's okay for a girl.
