Playgroups

Hi ladies!

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on where to look for, (or how to get into) a playgroup possibly in the Plano, Frisco, Mckinney area? I have a 2.5 year old son who mostly spends his days at home with mommy, and not too much interaction with other kids. I'm the only one out of all my friends to have a toddler. Some of them are just now starting to have babies. I feel bad for my son, because I want him to be able to have friends, and other kids his age to play with. Any ideas or recommendations would be great! Thanks!

Re: Playgroups

  • Have you considered putting him in a pre-school part time to get that interaction (esp. since you are pg again)? That is a great way to meet other mommy friends and LOs. DD will start a preschool this summer (more like camp) and then will continue on through the fall (we live in Frisco).

I found a really great group on Meetup.com - there are lots of them on there!

Here's the link for our group if you are interested!  Most of the kids are between ages 2 and 4.  A few of us have babies and a few of us have 5 year olds.  We do a lot of playdates at parks in the mornings.  Everyone is require to host at least one playdate every 3 months and it does not have to be at your home.  Hosting means it's your idea and you show up.  If it's a special themed get together (as some people like to do) you provide what you want to provide and ask others to help out or not.  Me and the kids have had a great time and we've made some really good friendships.  We do have Mom's Night Out at least once a month and we do try and do family get togethers as well.

  • I found a great group near me through Meetup.com as well and am also now looking into some MDO programs for my 3 y/o son for later this year to put him in two days a week.

You can also get into one through PAMOM.  Smile
  • I found mine through Early Childhood PTA programs in the area.  I believe most areas have them.
