Formula question

When did your LO start having less bottles with more formula?

Logan had been drinking 4 oz every 3 hours, but we were noticing he was sometimes hungry before 3 hours. We decided to start him on 5 oz last night. So, we will see how that goes and if the 5 oz gets him through a solid 3 hours. If it doesn't then I guess we will regroup. :)

Re: Formula question

  • DD was still eating at the same intervals, just more formula.
  • In our case, we just had the same amount of bottles with more formula.  We didn't decrease the amount of bottles as we increased the formula.  Our LO went from 4 oz every 3 or 3 1/2 hours to 5 oz every 3 to 3 1/2 hours.  I think we switched that about a month ago - I just can't remember.

It now looks like we need to start bumping her up to 6 oz during the day.  She is starting to say she is still a bit more hungry.  Hope this helps!

  • Sabrina started daycare at 2 months, which is when we upped her bottles to 6 ounces because I'd rather her have too much than not enough. It was wasteful in the beginning (she was still drinking 4-5 ounces every 3-4 houirs) but, again, I'd rather her have too much than not enough.

The past several weeks she's been drinking all 6 ounces every 3 hours. We've also introduced solids so that's why I haven't upped her ounces just yet but we may have to soon.

  • S was never a big eater.  I think she was still drinking 4oz bottles at 7 or 8 months.

Probably a bit before 2 mos.  DS was up to 6 oz bottles by about 2mos.  No kidding.  Not spitting it up either.  Sometimes he drains 8oz and then a 4oz chaser.  You just need to try and see how it goes.  I always went by his cues.
