How do you pronounce Sawyer?

So DH is set on this name and I do like it but just worried everyone one will say it different all the time. We pronounce it Soy-yer here. but if you pronounce it like it looks you could say Saw-yer. So how would you say it if you saw it? The middle name would be Alan. thanks ladies

Keep in mind, the pronunciation may not always be regional.  I pronounce it Soy-yer, my mom pronounces if Saw-yer.  We were both born and raised in the same city and neither of us spent significant time living elsewhere.  So I think it is very probable for you and your son to hear both pronunciations through out his life.

DH and I both say Soy-yer.  I was raised in rural mountain VA, though by non-southern parents and DH's family has lived there for 300 years.  I think you're safe.

Well I think your DH has FANTASTIC taste!! This is DS's name and we pronounce it Soy-yer. I've never run into any confusion - other than people thinking Sawyer was his last name.

This is our last name. It is pronounced SAW-yer, correctly, but some regions do pronounce it Soy-yer. And unfortunately, a lot of idiots pronounce it Sour, which prompts the response: seriously, have you never heard of Tom Sawyer??
