Question for the second time moms

When did you start to really show the first time around? One of my good friends keeps telling me how I won't show for a really long time because of how short/petite I am. But wouldn't being smaller mean you would look pregnant sooner? She says no, but for some reason that doesnt make sense to me. Am I wrong?

Oh and I know that everyone is different, I am just curious :)

I am about 5'4" and I just looked like an ever-thickening tree trunk until around 26 weeks.  But I think I am a weirdo.  I also carried very high.  Plenty of my friends show before then.

This was me, too.  I'm not sure I ever looked all that pregnant.  In fact, there were people at work who didn't realize I was.  I guess they just thought I was gaining a bunch of weight?  I don't know.
  • I'm just over 5' and I wasn't obviously pregnant until around 20 weeks, but I definitely looked like I gained weight starting around 15-16 weeks.  My weight has always fluctuated a lot, so nobody said anything to me...

I'm 5'5, 120 lbs, with a flat stomach (I tend to carry weight more in my legs), and it took me forrrrrrever to start to show with my first pregnancy. I had only the tiniest bump by 20 weeks. But my torso is relatively long, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.
  • I'm 6'1" and 175lbs.  I wouldn't say I have an overly long torso but definately more so than a petite gal.

My coworkers "guessed" that I was pregnant w/ #1 at about 15-16wks even though I was still wearing all my normal clothes.  I didn't think I was showing at all and argued with my boss about it.  Good naturedly of course, I told her at 12wks.  I worked with a bunch of moms/grandmas though.

  • I thought I started showing at 16 weeks or so, but at 20 weeks I brought in blue-sprinkled cupcakes to announce the sex of the baby, and there were people in my division that had definitely seen me regularly that didn't know I was pregnant until then.  So maybe I just looked like I had gained weight.  For a long time it really depended on what kind of outfit I was wearing as well - maybe until 24 weeks.
  • I gave up my size 0 pants at like 4 months but I don't think people could look at me at tell I was pregnant until much later.  With Annalise I didn't even wear maternity clothes a lot of the time.  The day I went in to have her I had maternity capris and a size Lg regular Old Navy shirt.
