Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Please help me figure out what "nee-nee" is??

Ian has been toddling around saying "nee-NEE!" over and over again since Friday.  At first I thought he wanted Mimi, but he said no.  Everything gets a solid "no" when I suggest something to match up to whatever he's calling "nee-nee."  I even asked him "you mean tee-tee?  Want to sit on the potty?"  He just looked at me like "oh, Mother" and then said it again.

Has he been watching Real Housewives of Atlanta reruns?  What else sounds like nee-nee??

  • my niece and nephews call their loveys their "nee-nee" - could someone have used that word with him to refer to a favorite blanket or something?

  • Haha, I hear on not know what something means...  Neenee for DS is chicken - don't know why, but it is.  I'm trying to figure what DS means when he says "dadoof."  That's the only one he says that I just can't figure out.  :)

Once they get old enough to actually say what it is or can show you, we'll probably feel stupid that we didn't know what they were talking about! :)

  • DS tends to get the emphasis of words, but the consonants are all mixed up. Could "nee-NEE" be "TV" or "hungry?"

DS was so disappointed in me the other day. He would run up to me and yell "Mama DEEEEEE!" and wait for me to do something. I don't know what I was supposed to do, but eventually he would just wander off dejected.

  • DS started saying something similar that sounded more like neh-nay, and i could NOT figure it out for the life of me.  but, we finally got that he was trying to say vitamin, but couldn't pronounce the v sound at all.  if your DS takes a vitamin, it might be that.  we give the gummies, and DS thinks it's more like candy or a treat, so he is always the one to "ask" for it.

  • Well, I tried, apparently nee-nee is none of the above.

    I suck at toddler-speak.  LOL
