January 2011 Moms

Off to meet with the oncologist :(

We're all going to get the lowdown on my mom's treatment plan. So not excited about hearing all the gory details of how tough chemo will be.

The worst part is how down it gets my mom. She'll be joking and happy and fine most of the time, but whenever she talks to a doctor she gets totally depressed and upset again, understandably. I feel like there is nothing I can say to help, and I hate that.

  • I'm sure just being there for her is the better for her than anything you could possibly say.  I hope the appointment goes well and the doctor gives some hopeful treatment options.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

I am so sorry to hear that.  I will keep you and your family and especially your mom in my prayers!  All you can do at this point is be there for her and it sounds like you are doing a great job!

  • I'm lurking from Dec. moms, but I am so sorry to hear about your mom. My DH and I have been watching his mom go through cancer and chemo since October of this past year. It has been heartbreaking, but family is such an awesome bond. I will send T&Ps your way and if you ever want to talk I am here.

  • T&P to you and your family.  Its hard finding the right things to say or feeling like you don't help.  But I'm sure your pg will give your mom something to look forward to.  One of the most fulfilling things for my mother is being a grandmother.  So including your mom in the phases of the pg, and all the exciting moments that are ahead will give her so much joy esp since her baby girl is now having a baby of her own.  Maybe you could bring her to one of your U/S once you are further along, go shopping together for baby clothes, etc if she felt up to it.  That would help her at least during those moments together help her to keep her mind off the cancer and the chemo.
  • Sending prayers your way.  Hope the appointment goes well.
