I'm trying to plan an IVF cycle having no idea when AF is coming and having no idea how I'm going to respond to stims. Also, I'm not even sure if my FSH is going to be low enough for me to even consider IVF this cycle. I won't know anything until Day 2 (and again, I don't have a firm idea when that's going to be.)
I normaly would just go with the flow but I just got called for an interview during the third week in June (the day of the interview is my choice, the week is the prospective employer's choice. I need to have a plan before the HR person calls to schedule my flight).
How long did you stim for?
Did you feel up to anything a day or two after ER? Do you think you could have gotten on a plane and traveled for a day-trip/interview?
Should I just not go through with IVF in June and hope things work out in July?
I'm a wreck! This is sooooo hard to plan. I don't want to wait another month but I also don't want to miss out on this job.
WWYD?
Re: How many days did you stim for IVF?
IVF #1 - 10 days
IVF #2 - 11 days
My RE would not let me travel once my monitoring appointment started (which was 5 days fater starting stims) b/c you never know exactly when you will need to go back. Sometimes there was a day between monitoring appointments and other times I was at the office every single day.
If the interview is important to you, I would push your cycle back. It is not practical to assume you can plan on an out of town interview actually happening while stimming for IVF.
Yikes! That does sound stressful.
I stimmed for 14 days. I was a slow responder and that surprised me b/c with IUI's I responded quickly.
If it were me and this interview were important, I might think of postponing the IVF until July. IVF on its own is stressful, but adding to that a worry about timing and it just seems completely overwhelming.
I'm sorry you've got all this on your plate. GL, whatever your decision!
I'm sorry you're having to stress about all of this!! Here is my info, but keep in mind everybody stims differently so it is hard to plan for....
How long did you stim for? 8 days for both cycles
Did you feel up to anything a day or two after ER? Do you think you could have gotten on a plane and traveled for a day-trip/interview? I felt perfectly fine the day after ER for IVF #1, but still really sore and crampy after IVF #2. I think I could have gotten on a plane and traveled, but I don't think I would have liked having to do it. Also the day after ER is when you get your fert report, so if you got difficult news then you may really not want to do an interview. And even if you got good news you may feel distracted as you think about your embies and the upcoming transfer...
Should I just not go through with IVF in June and hope things work out in July? I wish I could give an answer here, but I don't know. Good luck making the decision!

13 days. I personally would not be comfortable going anywhere between starting injects and ET. What if they called you to come in right away? GL!
I've stimmed for anywhere between 9 and 12 days for my 4 IVF cycles. I felt fine with my ERs....I guess I don't have major issues with anesthesia because I went back to work the same day after 2 of my ERs (the other 2 were on the weekend). It's hard to say....I wouldn't have any issues scheduling a day trip once I was in my cycle but I would have a hard time doing it upfront. Since it sounds like it's your first IVF cycle, there are just so many variables that there is a chance you could end up getting scheduled for something that doesn't work.
When do you think Day 2 will be for you?
I stimmed for 11 and 12 days for my IVF cycles.
I did not go back to work after ER because of the anesthesia. I did do a client meeting the day after ER, but I was still tired. I wouldn't have worked at all that day if it wasn't for the client meeting.
Good luck!
Jackie,
It is so hard to plan anything around an IVF cycle b/c things could change with a seconds notice. I was freaking out before my ER b/c they didn't tell me when it was going to be until Sunday when it was Tuesday. And then they changed my ET the day beforehand. It is probably the most stressful part of the whole IVF process for me. I stimulated for 10 day with this IVF. Good luck email me if you have any other questions.

As everyone else has said, it is incredibly difficult to plan around an IVF cycle. Things are sort of up in the air until you figure out how your body responds to the meds, and then they're up in the air until the fert report, and so on. If it were me, I would postpone my cycle- and I cringe when I say this because I know how difficult that would be to do.
But, to answer your questions, I stimmed for 11 days and was pretty miserable two days post ER. I actually went out for a bachelorette party (i was a bridesmaid) and really shouldnt have. I should have stayed home and rested. Live and learn I guess!
Regardless of my two cents, best of luck with whatever you decide to do, only you can decide what's best for your situation.

That. I stimmed for 11 and 12 days for my two cycles. I didn't know what my ER date would be until the afternoon of the day I triggered - I got the "You might trigger today" comment on days 11 and 12 of this cycle.
