This heat is ridiculous! How do you natives deal??

I'm from New York. It doesn't get this hot there. How in the heck am I going to deal with this heat? 90s and 100s is just nuts!

I went out for my lunch break and just the act of walking from my car back to the building has me drenched with sweat! And it's only going to get worse??? Seriously?? How do you deal with being pregnant in this heat??

Re: This heat is ridiculous! How do you natives deal??

  • Have never been pregnant... but I'm a native Texan.  Lots of A/C, lemonade, fans, spicy food, days at the lake/pool/river, and dressing in layers that you can strip off when you get to your car which is usually 20 degrees warmer than the outdoor temperature.  It's been warm this month, but July and August will be worse.  You might as well not even leave the house.

  • Keep hydrated, make sure your car is full on freon and budget for a $500 AC bill for the next 4 months.  Just kidding (kinda).

It's going to get really hot here this summer and if the weather now is bothering you I would keep your outdoor activities to a minimum.  Buy some fans and drink lots of water.  It will stay hot through September at least.

I delivered my twins in August.  Basically I only went outside when I had to; kept hydrated; and made sure the A/C was working at the house and in the car.

I actually think it's worse lugging 2 kids around in the heat than being pregnant!!  Smile

  • I've got that song "you ain't seen nothing yet...ba ba baby" in my head now! I had my DD on july 30th. I spent like zero time outdoors that summer. It's miserable.. hang in there!

  • stay inside or go back to NY for a long visit! ha! Like other people have said, unfortunately you ain't seen nothing yet.  There's no silver lining, it's just plain miserable.
  • LOL.  This is NOTHING.  Wait until 30+ days in a row of 100*+ temps.  THATS hot.

Stay inside, on in a pool.  Thats my moto.  :)

  • My son was born late August and like pp said, I tried to make it a point not to leave the house but if I had to, I'd make sure it was dark outside. The summer of 2008 was a pretty hot summer and not a pleasent one to be pregnant in. I would cry (seriously) watching the 7 day forecast and see day after day of 107, 105, 108... it was awful.

But yeah, brace yourself, you haven't see anything yet!
