Decided to splurge and made southern style fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner last night. It was very good, especially considering that it was my first ever attempt at making real fried chicken, but today there's a lingering smell of grease and fried food in the house that's making me gag.
Spraying air freshener just seems to co-mingle with the smell, not eliminate it. Any other suggestions for getting cooking smells out of the air?
Re: My house is gagging me.
Bowls of vinegar set out on the counter absorb a lot of odors.
Make sure that you've degreased everything.

Open the windows! Ugh, I hate that smell, too.
Other things I have used is to boil a lemon or orange (juice and rind) with a little water on the stove. You can add in cloves, cinnamon, etc. if you want, too. Candles also help.
omg, yeah, grease smell is one of the WORST smells! I never understand why it smells so good WHILE you are cooking, but then it smells HORRIBLE afterwards! LOL. I hate (and usually avoid) frying things for just that reason!
There is one old arena here that it just perpetually smells like grease. I can't hardly go into there without gagging. Luckily they only have one or two things a year at THAT arena that are worth going to.
Scrub the area where grease may have splattered with a baking soda solution? Open the windows?
Good luck!
