Hi Mommas!
Just curious about the number of night time bathroom trips post partum?
I know that my body will need to get rid of a lot of fluid, but I was wondering about how long after baby is born will the peeing every 1-2 hours stop? I just had this awful thought of having to get up to feed/change baby, then sleeping for like 30 minutes, only to get up to pee, then having to start over with the feedings all over again. I realize that I may not sleep at all the first few weeks/months, but hoping for a reprieve from the all night bathroom trips.
Thanks!
Re: Question from 3rd Tri
I'd only get up once at night and it's during one of LO's feedings.
I think I may go to the bathroom once during the night...and usually I go after I feed G and put her back to sleep, then go to the bathroom before bed.
While I was pregnant-I went atleast 5 times a night...so it's much better!
It changed immediately with me. I was a 1-2 hour pee'er when I was in my 3rd tri, but after baby I go when he gets up to nurse, which is twice a night.
This for me too.
Immediately. I was up 7 times a night in third tri... and now I pee during the 4am feeding-just out of habit but I really don't need to.
I will say I peed for an hour and a half after I had the baby. I was like a freaking horse... on and on and on and on... the longest pee of my life. And maybe the first couple after that at the hospital...
This.
After my c-section I had a cathetor for an extra 24hrs b/c I needed a lot of extra fluid due to a fever during labor. After it was removed and I was off the IV's things were pretty much back to normal!
I had a ton of swelling and a c/s, with swelling after. The night-time bathroom trips are a rare event now. I don't remember going at all in the middle of the night in the hospital or right after I had DS. There is certainly reprieve, don't worry! But...you then get to attend to LO's diapers and feedings and getting them back to bed. So, it is still disruptive to your sleep, just in a different time block!
oh it's nothing like being pregnant ... there isn't a baby pressing on your bladder anymore. in the hospital I didn't pee that frequently, even though I was drinking tons of water. I guess all that water goes into healing and milk production.
For the first couple weeks I've been sleeping in between feedings w/ out having to get up to use the restroom...don't worry.
