If we have a boy we have his name picked out. If we have a girl, we are thinking of this name, Lucia. 

I am wondering if when you look at it do you read loo SEE ah o  or do you pronounce it  LOO sha, more like St. Lucia the island in the Caribbean?

 We'd prefer it to be the latter but I'm wondering what the norm for others would be?

Awww, that's sweet! We considered St. Lucia for our HM but went to Hawaii instead, closer!

I like Lucy the best but DH doesn't love it. We both like Lucia. And we can call her Lou.

I'm another person who says LooSha like the island. I like the name, what would the middle name be?

I read it Loo-see-ah. In previous posts about this name it seems to be evenly split among Loo-see-ah, Loo-chee-ah, and Loo-sha.

The middle name, regardless of what first name we choose, will be Blue. There is a long story behind it. So in this case it would be:

Lucia Blue

Also considering Layla Blue.

I like Layla Blue a lot more than Lucia Blue, no matter which way you pronounce it.  Also, I never would've pronounced it LOO-sha, I go back and forth between Lou-CHEE-a and Lou-SEE-a.  I think I like Lou-SEE-a better.

I think Loo-sha. I only think it's pronounced Loo-see-ah if you are going for the latin/hispanic type route.

Loo-sha. It was my great-grandmother's name and is a bit of a family name. I'm trying to figure out if we can work it into a girl's name for us-- maybe as a middle name-- but I don't think it quite works with our first name choice.

It is prounounced Loo-chee-ah in italian. In NY where it is very popular i have never heard anyone say loo cha

I say it Loo-see-ah. Like Lucy but with a little extra flair.

I grew up in the Caribbean, so I've heard the island pronounced Loosha all my life.  However, when it came to a person's name, I've only heard it pronounced as Loo-see-ah.  So, if I read it in a sentence regarding the island, I'll pronounce it one way and if it is regarding a person, I pronounce it the other way.
