3rd Trimester

Any 33-34 weekers finding it difficult to exercise?

I've been trying to go on 30-45 minute walks every evening after work but am finding this is becoming increasingly more difficult b/c of back pain and BH contractions. My stomach also starts hurting after a short period of time (I think b/c baby is just getting bigger).

Anyone else experience this within these past few weeks?

I was so disappointed with not being able to keep up with "easy" cardio workouts I would do all the time before becoming pregnant. Even some yoga positions are now impossible for me.

I bought Summer Sanders Prenatal workout DVD and really like it. Just enough cardio to get me going, mixed with strength and stretching. Plus, she is in her third trimester, so I know if she can do it, I can!

  • Yes I used to be able to walk a very long distance, now I hesitate to even go to the store cause by the time I'm done, my pelvis and lower back are killing me!

  • This is the time it got difficult for me with DD1. I still kept it up, but it was sometimes hard and uncomfortable, I took lots of little breaks. Around 37/38 weeks, walking for exercise was done for me.
  • My advice is to just keep exercising, even though it's just going to get harder. Just think how much easier it will seem after the baby is out and you're getting back into it!

  • I had a tough time around 30-31 weeks and had to stop running because my back was killing me.  But, I kept exercising and just swam, biked, and used the elliptical.  I got better and am still running now -- it may just be temporary so keep doing whatever you can.

Yep! I used to walk an hour every weekend, and it was getting hard, so I cut back to 20. Even that, the pelvis pain makes me slow down and rest.

  • Yes. I still do aquarobics, but walking is a lot harder. My DH unconsciously walks too fast, and it's starting to annoy me to trail 15 feet behind him and the dog. But I keep going on walks (pretty much daily), because I know it'll be good for me in the end. I just go slow. There's lots of pressure and twinges and it feels like the baby is sitting right on my bladder when I walk, but whatever.

  • I am still walking my dogs about 45 minutes a day, and I do an hour of yoga 4 -5 times a week.  It isn't easy like it was before I was pregnant, but I am still able to do it.
