I'm not really sure. It doesn't bug me like the made up names do, but it's not my favorite. It sounds a bit old, but who am I to judge, I love the name Madge!

My mom's name is Sondra, and she is not fond of it. She has always gone by Sandy, and it wasn't until she saw her birth certificate that she realized her name was Sondra and not Sandra. I love the nn Sandy, but I'm partial cause I love my momma !

We named DD#2 Alessandra (Italian form) with the idea that she could be Allie, Sandra (pronounced Sondra), or Sandy as nicknames as she gets older.

I like it because it's fairly easy to say...and there will probably be no other kids with that name in her age group (very uncommon these days).

My childhood friend was named Sondra and I always thought it was different and pretty. I hate Sandy, and the pronunciation and spelling of Sondra don't lend themselves to an easy nickname. I like it.
