Pregnant after a Loss

How do you get rid of your headaches?

For about 5 days now I have been getting headaches. I hadn't gotten them through my whole pregnancy so far and I didn't get many before being pregnant except like sinus headaches.

I think these are more sinus related because my eyes are getting dry and my nose is very "mucusy" sorry for the TMI, especially ever morning.

I want to try and avoid medicine if I can during this pregnancy, but I do have tylenol here in case I really need it.

What remedies do you use?

Re: How do you get rid of your headaches?

  • I had a lot of headaches in 1st tri, but they weren't sinus headaches so I might not be much help.  Tylenol did little for me, but I would take 1000mg to dull the pain.  Also I would try drinking a coke or cup of coffee, napping in a dark room, and a cold or warm compress.

  • Really early on in this pg (around 8w) I had a horrible headache for about 4 days. I wanted to avoid medication, so I tried everything I could think of and suggestions from others.

    I tried:
    -A massage
-Lavender/peppermint oil (rubbed on the back of your neck, in between eyes and on temples).
    - Ice packs
    - lots of water (thought I might be dehydrated)

Unfortunately none of these worked and I ended up taking 2 Tylenol. Once I was able to break the headache with those 2 Tylenol, I was able to manage it and in another day or so it was completely gone. It was just a matter of breaking it down to manageable level.

Hope you find some relief soon!

  • Most of the remedies mentioned above are what I do to! The little bit of caffeine really works! Tylenol seemed to always work for me too, and it is safe, though I'm sure you knew that! GL!

  • caffiene and tylenol did the trick for me

  • I haven't caved to the drugs yet...

It seems to help me temporarily to rub the general area where the pain is - that a little in the temples, but mostly near the base of my head towards the top of my neck.  It doesn't work great, but it's better than nothing and I really don't want to have to go near the medicine cabinet.

  • I had HORRIBLE sinus headaches throughout my entire pregnancy. The best thing I ever did was buy a Netipot. I used it about 3 times a day. IT really helped to clear out my sinuses and ease the headaches. I also took Tylenol quite a bit, but I tried not to take too many meds.
