Where do you put your humidifier?

It says on the instructions not to place it on furniture or any kind of cloth, so am I missing something? What else am I supposed to set it on? I set it on our dresser and the paint is peeling off of it from all the water!

We have the humidifer on our dresser. You could put it on something plastic. Or put a plastic mat under it to protect your furniture.

I put it on the carpet by the crib. I don't really consider carpet, cloth. I've never had any problems and have never had any moisture under it. I check it nightly when I change the water.
