Sometimes I feel like we're going to keep a secret until our baby is born...since everything else will be known (baby's sex, repeat c-section, etc.).
But now I'm leaning toward sharing the name (once we decide which name we like)...
Curious to see what you all are doing... [Poll]

That's one reason I'd want to share...especially since so many of my cousins and friends are having babies now.

It's funny, but I actually have known people who got their names stolen after they shared it because other people heard it and liked it so much... I would never do that to anyone, so I think that's pretty wrong.
I've thought about this as a possibility. But I'm pretty intense, they would know better than to steal my names ::bwahahahaha evil laughter::
No but seriously for some reason no one ever likes my names:

Just a though, if you share it early, you might wind up with a ton of personalized items at your shower and then you'll feel bad if you decide you want to change it... I don't know if you're the type of person who would feel bad in that situation or say "eh, whatever!" but I thought I'd point that out.
I apparently have a lot of opinions on naming... Sorry if I'm coming off as rude! That's not my intent!
I like them! They're not the kinds of names DH would like, so we won't be stealing them, haha! My friend's gf has a son and she told her cousin she was going to name him Gavin, so her cousin had her boy a few weeks before my friend's gf and named him Gavin. So K named her son Dylan instead... That's just wrong. If I thought someone pg at the same time as me might be considering the same name, I might share with just them to let them know we've chosen ours... We'll see if that situation arises!
This. And I'd also like to get stuff embroidered early on.
For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

We haven't decided yet. We also haven't decided if we will find out the sex.
Possibly flame-worthy confession: The big reason I wouldn't want to share sex is to avoid the influx of clothes or frilly stuff if it is a girl. I didn't even think about personalized stuff with sharing the name. I would not be into that at all, either. But, those reasons seems like a ridiculous reason to not share. I am a grateful person, really!

When I was looking at names during my last pregnancy I did like Greyson a lot. I am hoping that bump posters don't count tho as far as name stealers.
I was going to share our chosen names, which of course we don't have yet, since we aren't going to find out the sex. I am actually kinda wanting feedback regarding opinoins on names. If I really like a name I won't care if they're are a few people who don't like it anyway.
OMG I would be sooo pissed, probably would never speak to them again. I wouldn't care if the person lived far away or if it was someone I knew I wouldn't see or barely know. But geez that is bad, cousins!

Thanks! Taloulah is the forerunner right now for us. My name is Ashley, which I've never liked. I was one of 5 in mt graduating class, and it was just so popular. I like feminine and very vowel-y names that aren't *too* weird.
I also highly recommend NameBerry.com. It helped me find most of my middle names. HTH!

Also, I am probably in the minority here, but I don't see the big deal with "name theft." My brother-in-law and sister-in-law are having a baby a few weeks before us. I don't know what names they're considering, but if they used the name that we wanted to use - guess what - name-twin cousins.
I think people make too big a deal out of these things, honestly.

Go Team-Meet-Baby-First!
Funny story about this. My sister is half vietnamese and half puerto rican. her husband is from guatemala. When they were having their first, they decided to name her Leea if she looked more Asian, and Adriana if she looked more Spanish. We never told them this, but our parents HATED the name Adriana and made a pact to tell her it was the most Asian looking baby EVER - no matter what she looked like.
Meet my "Asian looking" niece, Leea:

Adeline made my short list but DH vetoed it, grrrrr.
I am kind of wishing I had kept the names we are considering a secret, because my mother is turning out to be quite opinionated, and it's annoying to hear her dis the ones we like.
We didn't name our daughter until the day after she was born!!! We had a list of final choices, but we wanted to see her before we decided on a final choice. We decided to sleep on it because I was in labor for 46 hours and I felt I couldn't make the decision when I was that exhausted!!
We kept the names a secret because we didn't want family "weighing in" on our choices. We will do the same thing this time.
there is no such thing as "stealing" a name... it's first come first serves.
i am just not telling anyone so i won't have to listen to any opinions.
We're not sharing names... but mostly because we have no plans to share the baby's gender. We'll probably tell both the gender & the name as part of a Christmas present to our families. I don't want any unsolicited opinions from my ILs, or my own parents for that matter.
