Kai? Boy or Girl Name?

Hi All,

 I love the name Kai, but not sure if it is more a boy name or girl name.....pronounced "Kye"

 Also, Rowan - boy or girl name?

Thoughts?

I like Rowan for a girl, But Kai for a boy.  Kai is actually on our list for boys.

I have a friend that was going to use Kai if she had a boy. That is the first time I had heard the name so I would say boy.

I know Rowan is a boys name but when I hear or see it I think of the girls name Rowena. I really don't like this name.

Both names actually sound sort of unisex to me, but if I had to chose I would say Kai is a boy name and Rowan is a girl name.

I know a guy named Kai who is in his late 20's so I picture a guy. Rowan also is a guy name to me just because of Rowan Atkinson.

Kai is a boys name. It was on our short list. I've also seen it spelled Kaj, but wouldn't spell it that way myself.

Although I know more boys named Rowan than girls, it still seems like a girl's name to me.

I would say that both Kai and Rowan are both definite boy names.

I think Kai is more for a boy. I know a little girl named Kya (not sure about the spelling) which is pretty and sounds similar.

I named my dog Kai about 8 years ago - so boy and I always thought Rowan was a girl

If I saw an email with Kai or Rowan as the sender, I would assume it was a boy.

I would assume 'boy' with both of those names. I knew a Rowan (boy) and a Rowen (girl), so I associate the girl's name with a different spelling.

I would think boy for both as well. However, a few years ago I had two Kindergarten twin girls in my class named Kai and Kia.
