stretch marks ?

I am at 28 weeks and all of a sudden this week I have developed stretch marks very low on my stomach and a few very tiny ones on my sides.  I was hoping since my mom had no stretch marks I would not either but I guess it is a little different when you are carrying twins :)

This past two weeks I literally have felt like my stomach is going to explode.  I have put on lots of lotion and oil.

 Here are my questions:

1. Any other suggestions for helping with stretch marks?

2. Do they fade away...if so how long does this take?

3.  Should I expect for the stretch marks to continue to get worse from here on out?

Thanks :)

Re: stretch marks ?

  • No one in my family got stretchmarks but I did...  they only got worse and spread like crazy the bigger I got.

Vit E oil and Belli lotion helped the most...

Mine are already a lot better- once your tummy goes down- the marks shrink with it...

  • I don't have any stretch marks yet, but I use vitamin e oil and it takes the itch away. I got a few on my hips during my last pregnancy and they faded so much, you can barely see them now.

  • I didn't get any with my first (but only gained 17lbs).  I'm using 100% pure shea butter and prayer :)
  • I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but I did not have a single stretch mark until after the girls were born. The day after my c/s it was where did all these come from!? I got a lot on my hips and on my belly right under my belly button. On the bright side, my girls are 5 months now and the stretch marks have faded A LOT! I'm hoping by the time we go to the beach in august they will be faded enough to wear my bikinis again! Good luck ladies!
  • I don't think anything really helps you from getting them.  If they are gonna happen, they are gonna happen.  Mine were really purple while pregnant and are now lighter, but not completely clear yet (my girls are 5 mos)
  • I have serious faded ones on my hips from adolescence (think Freddy Kruger) - they are not red at all, but visible.

I didn't get any with my singleton pg.

This time, they started down low around 30 or 31 wks. I had been moisturizing at least once a day. I promptly started with Vit E oil (and switched to bio-oil) 2-3x p/day. They have grown, but aren't horrible. I plan to continue with the regimen after delivery, in addition to drinking lots of fluids, watching my diet, and doing exercise as soon as its safe.
