My moms 50th bday is Thursday and we are having her a party on Sat. My sister has put me in charge of the cake. I dont want to just do a sheet cake. BORING. Shes 50....its needs to be special. It needs to be AWESOME.
So, anyone want to google and help me find a good idea? Im going to meet with a cake decorator tomorrow. (well, its a lady in my area who makes them for fun in her spare time. She makes amazing cakes though)
PLEASE! Im almost zapped after L's party (in which I still need to post pics of his party and cake.) Plus I need to get started on K&Ks for their bday on Monday. Ahh...birthday month I love you but you stress me out!
Thanks!
Re: Help please! Need a 50th bday cake idea.
I don't know what your cake decorator is capable of... but you said that you didn't want "plain" sheet cake and I don't know how crazy your Mom is so I'm going to stay on the safe side of cakes I like- lol! (I really like the 2nd and the 3rd one- cute yet not TOO crazy-kwim?)
Ugh I just typed out an entire reply with pics and EVERYTHING and it somehow got lost in the bump shuffle GRRR... I'm going to look up the cakes again...
I really like the 2nd one and the 3rd one- they are cute ideas...trying to keep things "Safe" since I don't know how crazy you guys are (My family is crazycakes- lol!)
Ls cake was great and the icing did get darker. Im so glad you told me that. I left it at a mint green (maybe a shade darker) and by the time the party started (4pm) it was the perfect green dragon color.
As for my moms cake crazy is good.
She will love it. I am trying to stay away from the "Ha ha you are old" type cake though. More of celebration of being 50.
what are her hobbies? Is there anything that you could use as a theme for a cake? If she plays golf for example doing something like this
Here are some fun ones that you could adapt.
