Orange County Babies

sleepwear ?

Okay, since our weather here in Orange County has been stupid, I wanted to find out what do you let your LO sleep in?  I am always cold (even at 75 degrees), I am a wimp!  So I have 3 blankets on our bed.  For DD I usually put her in a zip up long sleeved pajama and a Halo Sleep Sack.  Her room is a steady 73 degrees at night.  I don't swaddle her at night because she rolls now.  (Though they still swaddle her at daycare but watch her when she sleeps. I want that job...Watching sleeping babies!  HA!)  Stick out tongue

What do your LO's sleep in?  Am I over heating her because I am cold all the time?

Re: sleepwear ?

  • Probably.  BUT if she is sleeping good and isn't developing a heat rash then I wouldn't worry too much.

  • The weather has been pretty crazy!! I can't wait for it to be a consistently warm!!

Most nights I put her in a sleeper (long sleeves).  Sometimes I put a onsie on her first and then the sleeper.  I don't do the swaddle or sleep sack.  I also put a blanket over her..once she falls asleep.  She loves to play for a few minutes with her feet and kick kick kick!

I think you are fine with what you are dressing her in..cuz I'm doing the same thing!ha

I remember when DD was first born, the rule was if you have one layer on they should have two layers on.  I wonder when that is not true?

  • Like you, I'm always cold. Having a baby has finally ended the thermostat debate with DH and me. I won!

DD sleeps in a onesie, and either fuzzy jammies with a thin sleep sack or terry or cotton jammies with a thicker fuzzy sleep sack. Her jammies are all long sleeved and have feet-in. Back when she was swaddled, we skipped the onesie. She sleeps like a dream so we're not changing a thing!  I don't think you are over-dressing her unless she is sweating when you check on her or if she has a heat rash, etc.

  • DS sleeps in a onesie and pajamas. He wears socks as well. The pajamas with feet do not fit him since his feet are too big. I put a blanket on him. He seems ok.

  • I'm the same way - always cold and always thinking DD is cold too. We never use the heater at night though. I still put her in a onesie and a zip-up footed pj. I cover her with a toddler comforter and sometimes also throw another fuzzy blanket in there too. Obviously I didnt have the blankets in there when she was an infant. Instead I used the really thick footed PJ's and a sleepsack till the age of 6 months or so.
  • It really depends.  DD won't consistently stay under a blanket or comforter, so I have to rely on her PJs.  If it's cold, like last night, she sleeps in the heavier fleece footed PJs.  If it's warmer, she sleeps in thinner cotton fotted PJs.  And if it's even warmer or even hot, she sleeps in sleepwear separates, either pants and short sleeve shirt, or pants and a long sleeve shirt.  And those have various weights too.

If it's really cold, I sneak in before I go to bed and put the blanket and comforter back on top of her.  But she's almost never under them anymore when morning comes.

  • When it's warmer out (70+), short sleeved sleep n plays from carters.  When it's cooler out, footed carters PJs.  Always with a miracle blanket.

We keep the house at 67, but the thermostat is downstairs and whack.  I bet it's 10 degrees warmer upstairs.

  • I'm always cold too and think DD is cold. I put her in the footed pajamas and do have a small space heater that I can set the temperature and it automatically turns off if it gets too hot. I got it at Spoiled Beginnings by work if you want to check them out.

  • DD runs super hot like her dad so she normally sleeps in a short sleeve or sleeveless extra length gown & socks (since we double CD at night, nothing will snap over her butt!). We top her off with a cotton blanket which she usually cuddles with. If we add anything else she literally is drenched in sweat and can't sleep.
