I love the name Gunnar as well but my husband didn't like it so it was nixed. The baby is a part of your DF as well, so you should probably choose a name that you both like. If you don't, someone is going to be bitter about it in the end.
i was just wondering if i could try to convince him it was ok even though its his rate. i would never name LO something he didnt like, but i would beg and try to convince him. btw... he comes up with names like Wolf. i dont trust his naming ability at all.

Not trying to be offensive but (in my opinion) Gunner is just a bad as Wolf. Unless you or your SO opt out, your child's name should be something you both agree on like the other ladies said.

That would be like me naming my kid Staff Sergeant. No, you shouldn't name your kid after your H's rate, job, vehicle. Give him a name that he can be proud of. This reminds me of a the girls I know who have named their kids Corpryl (yes, I know. This is their daughter's name.) and Stryker.

In that instance it really depends. Is your husband going to be a gunner forever? If not then I don't really see an issue with it. Though there aren't a whole lot of names you could get away with doing that lol. We would never name our child Medic.
I personally like the name Gunner- I think it is very cute. And I agree with the PP- is your DH going to be a gunner forever...i dont' think post people would be two and two together and associate them like that at all.
My DH and I do not agree on names at all. I like more different names and he is more of an Adam, david type of person. Ultimately we decided that he doesn't have to like it- i'm carrying this kid and it is my body. it might be half of his dna but that is it- i get veto and decision power! So stick to your guns if you really love it. If he still really hates it then try to find something else.

Really? Wow.
That was going to be my response. Just because you carry the child does not mean it is "only" half his DNA. I don't feel carrying a child should give a woman power to feel like this.
Gunner is NMS at all. If you like it then that is your choice. I don't agree with begging and such though. I would feel awful if I named my child something I knew my husband was not as much in love with as I was. He may later resent you for it too.

Say what!? If it wasn't for YH you wouldn't have that baby. He is part of the required equipment and how would you like it if YH developed the same attitude about getting up in the middle of the night with your baby?
OP--you should pick a name you both love. Look up names that might mean the same as Gunner or have a similar sound.
Re: wwyd? baby name question.
NMS, I really don't like the name Gunner. What about the name Conner?
I try and find names that both DH and I can agree with.. I was in love with the name Milo, but my husband hated it.. so I gave it up.

No. I don't like the name to begin with but the fact that your DH is a Gunners Mate makes it cheesy.
