So the local elementary school had their first VPK program this past school year. (VPK = Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) It wasn't known until the beginning of this month, if they would get the funding for it again for the next school year. Registration was May 4th. There are about 50 parents wanting to sign their child up for an 18 slot class. Yikes! One of my girlfriends is a shoo-in for her child as this is her youngest, her other three already attend the school and she is super-involved in everything. She suggested I send a basket of goodies or something to the front desk ladies, since they are the ones that will be assisting with the class selection.
I made some yummy brownies last night, cut them into cute little bars and topped them with a frosting (some vanilla and some chocolate) along with little chocolate sprinkles. Okay - confession - it was a Betty Crocker brownie mix and the frosting was from a Pillsbury spray can - which makes for great presentation! I had my hubby pick me up an inexpensive plastic platter from Wal-Mart and voila!
I dropped them off at the school this morning. Totally fessed up that I was not above "bribing" and that I'd LOVE for my son and my friends little girl to be in this class together. We had a laugh about it. Then I headed onto work. Around 12:30 I get a phone call from the school. (Yay! They know who I am!!) The lady asked if I'd put anything different in the brownies because one of the ladies got sick! Okay - I'm 38 weeks pregnant.....I immediately started sweating, I KNOW my face was red - I'm stuttering about, no - I didn't put anything different in them.....then she giggled and said she was just kidding - that they are yummy and thanked me for the brownies. Whew!
Apparently my girlfriend had been up there this morning to meet with the principal on some other matters and she always stops at the front desk. I'm sure she told them I'd be okay if they called and played a trick on me. But hey - like I said - at least they know who I am!! :0)

Too funny
GL getting your DS in the preK program!
I use to laugh at "those kind of moms" in the movies and on TV shows but I am SO one of those moms. I bend over backwards to get my child preference for things, or at least make it so the teacher likes me. I am volunterring this summer (at nearly 9 months pregnant) in Sebastian (my oldest) new school (he starts VPK in August) just so they all know me!
Hope your DD gets in!
