Anyone with a toddler who still uses the angelcare monitor?

DS had been sleeping with his AR pillow (it put him at a 30 degree angle) because of his reflux since he was 8 months old.  We stopped using it about a week ago and now he's set off the angelcare monitor 3 times in the two weeks since we've stopped using the pillow.  Everytime this has happened and we check on him he is sleeping (either on his side or belly) right on top of the sensor so its not like he's moved away from it and its not picking up the movement.  He had set off the warning beep (when it beeps once to give you a heads up) twice in the 16 months that we used the pillow which his GI was a little concerned about since he was strapped into the pillow and the sensor was right below him.  I know that you can get false alarms, but we're hesitant to adjust the sensativity without knowing for sure that something else isn't going on.  He hasn't been sleeping as well lately since we took the pillow out and I think his reflux is acting up more too, but we had to for safety reasons since he figured out how to unstrap himself and climb up the back of it and try to get out of the crib.  We're planning on putting the blocks under the crib legs to help elevate his head.

 Sorry this is so long!

TIA!

Re: Anyone with a toddler who still uses the angelcare monitor?

  • We still use it with Robbie. he'll be 2 on the 31st.

I had to turn the sensitivity up just a TEENY bit when I gave him a pillow to sleep with. And we had a phase where he was setting it off and freaking me out and when I checked, somehow the pad had gotten pushed toward the front of the crib. I scooted it back towards the center and it got much better. He will occasionally get himself curled up either completely in one corner, or 100% on top of his pillow and that will do it, but it's pretty rare. Usually if I hear it beep once, I go in and check his position and just readjust him into the middle and he's okay.

  • We still use the AngelCare, DD is almost 15mths. She sets it off every now and then. But she usually just moves off the sensor or its gets moved to one side or the other.

We also have reflux issues and have blocks under the head of the crib and a wedge under the mattress. The combanation seems to help more than just one or the other.

We have been toying with the idea of adjusting the sensitivity a bit but haven't done it yet.
