Anyone have a Toyota Highlander?

I'm in desperate need of a new car - my car is so small that my DH keeps the car seat bases in his car, which means I can't leave the house all day while he's at work (at least not in a car, I can go for walks) :(  We looked at the Highlander and the Pilot and I really liked both.  But the Highlander seems a bit smaller which is good for me since I'm used to driving a really small car.  I am almost 100% positive we are done having kids after these two.  So I wanted to see if anyone here has a Highlander.. if so, do you like it?  Do you think it's big enough / has enough room for two babies, a double stroller, etc.?  Thanks!

  • Yep. We have a 2009. It fights both seats (we now have Safety 1st Complete Air instead of Snug Rides) and I can sit between them if I need to.

In one BRU trip we've fit 2 200 count diaper boxes plus 2 boxes of 512 wipes, 3 cases of formula and assorted other things plus the City Mini with room to spare if the third row is folded down.

And this winter it was great that the back seat has its own temperature control to keep them warmer than us upfront.

We had the same debate and went for the Pilot- I Love it! One of the deal breakers for me was that the third row in the Highlander isn't 60/40. It's great that you can have someone sit on the third row and not give up all your trunk space. Also- I was nervous about driving the Pilot b/c it is so big (I had a civic before) but I got used to it quickly and it really handles well.

  • We have the Highlander.  Love it!  I especially like that the middle seat in the second row can be removed and stored within the car.  This enables you to be able to walk back to the 3rd row.  We also have a dog that we treat very much like a child so we wanted to make sure that he had plenty of room in the car as well!  We only have the twins and dont plan to have any more...or at least that is the current plan!

  • We just bought the 2010 highlander and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!

My husband did back into our neighbor yesterday...and we need a new bumper...but that's besides the point :)

It will def. fit the twins and anything big once you out the third row down.
