do you have a garden tub or jacuzzi bathtub?

We moved into a house with a jetted bathtub in the master suite.  I have no idea how I should be cleaning this thing because we don't have the owner's manual.  Obviously I clean the tub itself practically daily.  But I'm wondering about all the pipes and jets under the tub.  Periodically, I fill the tub with hot water and a cup of bleach and let the jets run.  Should I be using something else or doing it more frequently?  I worry about mold since I don't know if the inside of the jets dry thoroughly--is all the water expelled after I turn the jacuzzi off?

  • The jets on ours is are a PITA because inevitably soap and water gets caught up in there.  I frequently have to clean them out with like a toothbrush or someone small that can get inside and clean the crud out.  Otherwise, I freakin' LOVE my tub!

our manual told us to do the same thing your doing and run the jets for 15 mins then drain the tub refill with water then run jets for 15 mins. I do this every few weeks.

  • I do the same thing, I scrub the filter and jets with bathroom cleaner then fill it up with hot water and add at least a cup or two of bleach and let it run.  Empty it up, fill is again and let the plain water run through it.  You can see the little pieces of mold/mildew after the first cleaning cycle that are cleaned out of the pipes.
  • You are doing it right.  Run the jets with the tub filled with bleach and water, empty and then run it again with just clean water.
