Houston Babies

How much would you pay if.....

There was a crib mattress or something similar that GUARANTEES your baby will sleep at least 10 hours at night from the age of 3month and on.  (not saying that such thing exist), but wondering what people would pay for sleep. =)

The woombie was great for exactly 2.5 weeks and we bought two of them...so for $50, we got good sleep for 2 weeks, and so I don't view it as a total waste.  She now cries in the middle of the night when she can't move her hands in the middle of the night.  But now she's waking up at least 4 times a week and I was just telling DH that I would pay at least $500 for another great invention that helps the baby sleep for a long period of time and it's guaranteed or your money back.  DH said that he wouldn't pay more than $300.  Honestly...I may go up to $1k if I heard GREAT reviews that it's the miracle mattress or something.

Re: How much would you pay if.....

  • Ha! I think that is so hypothetical that I am having a hard time making up a hypothetical answer.

The fact is babies are people and people have opinions. My sons have had very different preferences since Day 1. T paci, M no paci from the very 1st day they were born. They eat differently, sleep differently. Even though this is just a hypothetical, I have to say that there is no way because there will never be one answer that is right for every baby. So, based on the fact that I doubt such an invention would really work, I would pay up to $300 but no more, even with a cash back guaranty.

  • I was lucky and both of my kids sttn pretty early on so that mattress wouldn't have been that big of a deal to me.  But.......if there was a miracle mattress that caused my kids to sleep until 9am on the weekends, I would pay a good 1K for that!

  • I would pay up to $500 or so for something like that, maybe more. But my child did not like to sleep for the first year or so! She only napped if we held her and only slept at night if it was in our bed. I really wish I knew about the Nap Nanny two years ago...$130 does not seem like a lot to pay for a baby to nap without being held all the time!

We have a nap nanny...it's not miracle mattress. =)  It is great to have for when I finish feeding her, I can put her in so she doesn't spit up....but I'm not sure if it makes her sleep any longer or anything.

  • For us the Nap Nanny was just like a miracle mattress!!! Our LO was absolutely miserable at night, never napped and at night would only sleep for an hour or two at a time.  We were so exhausted and hopeless and were willing to try anything.  We tried the Nap Nanny and literally the first night we got it, our LO slept through the night and it has been weeks and the sleeping just keeps getting better! I never thought I'd see the day where we'd be getting sleep again.  So basically 130 dollars was how much we spent for our miracle mattress!!!
