how much spit up is too much?

my DD is almost two weeks old and is nursing really well. Today she has spit up every time she has nursed. It isn't just a little bit, I sware its everything she drank. The pedi told me to call if she does a lot of projectile, which this is not. Its just a lot of spit up. She seems content afterwards, doesn't seems hungry. Anyone else dealing with this?

My DD did the same thing around the same time and my lactation consultant told me:

    A) even though it looks like a lot, its probably not more than a tablespoon or so....pour a tablespoon of water on your counter and it looks like a lot more!

    and

B)as long as LO is not bothered by the spitting up (and its not projectile, which is more like vomiting), its fine.  They are called "happy spitters".

  • My LO's digestive system seemed to "turn on" one day around two weeks or so.  She ate so well before then but then started to get gassy and start spitting up.   As long as it doesn't seem to bother her, it's nothing to worry about.

  • Agree with previous posts, my LO would do the same thing. At first I was worried, but learned that it was perfectly normal.
