Stroller question

This is for those of you with the Uppa baby vista, I posted it on the baby gear board but it's pretty sloooow over there!

Anyway, the uppa baby vista is what I wanted all along, dh told me I could get whatever stroller I wanted but in the end I thought I just didn't need a $700 stroller.  What we ended up with is top rated & it's fine, but it isn't my style and I sort of think it's ugly and going to be super bulky and a PITA....so now I am totally regretting my decession.  My dh told me that we should just return the one we bought & buy the uppa baby.

Sooo, for those of you who have it....is it worth it?  Also, where could I order it and get it ASAP since baby could come any time now.  And what car seat are you using (because ours is currently a combo so I would have to buy a carseat, we currently have the graco snug ride)

Re: Stroller question

  • I wouldn't spend $700 on a stroller but that's just me.   I have the graco snug ride as well and agree that it's bulky but plan on using umbrella strollers as soon as the baby is older.

  • Hey,

Not so sure how helpful I can be, but I have the '10 Uppa Vista and although the kid isn't here yet- I love it.

It was a snap to put together, super easy to take the different attachments on and off (basket, toddler seat, carseat attachment).

I agree with you on the price, but when I think of how much I plan to use it in the park this summer it made sense.  We have the graco snug ride.  It just snaps into the carseat attachment.

I would surf around on websites to see where you can get it.  I know Land of Nod has it on their site and there were a few others.  I remember the store where we got ours saying that they placed specific orders, but also bought a few extra to have "in stock".  You might want to check to see where your retailers are.

I hope this helps.  We were even more impressed with the quality when we started playing with ours.  Good luck!

  • I'm not a ton of help b/c we don't have that stroller. We have the Bugaboo Bee with is a little less spendy than that and I LOVE it. It's really light weight and super easy to use.

Good to know about the quality, I wish there were stores that carried them so I could see it in person.  We are very active/outdoor people esp in the summer so I think it makes sense for us as well.

  • We bought the UppaBaby Vista and I absolutely love it. We haven't been able to use it yet, but we liked it so much more than the Bugaboo. We are not using the car seat adapter, but the one that they sell is compatible with the Graco Snugride and the Safe Seat car seat. We purchased the 2009 model because the upgrades on the 2010 model were not worth it for us. Plus we do not plan on having any other kids after LO is born. We got an amazing deal on our 2009 model. We bought it from www.comfortfirst.com They shipped quick and their customer service was amazing. We paid under $500 for ours. They do not charge shipping and we didn't pay sales tax either. Right now if you use the coupon code springstroll they will give you 10% off. I hope this helps.
  • I have a few friends who have this stroller and they like it a lot but now that their kids are about 1.5 years old, they use umbrella strollers more often than the Uppa for errands, etc...

I would assess what you are going to use it for, how often, etc...If you are not a big walker, then it's probably not worth it. If you walk outside everyday, then it's a great stroller.

Also, I think you can still get deals on the 09 model on some websites.

Oh thanks, I never even thought to look for a 2009!  It doesn't look like that site has the 2009's anymore, but I'm going to have to search around.

You can definately find the 2009's for a lot less money than 2010. It seems like everyone is trying to get rid of the old model. Also, I don't know if you have seen the colors in person, but I think the colors they show on their website are not true colors. We bought the Mica (labeled silver for color), but when we got it, it is actually a gray color and we love it. If that is a color your interested in, let me know and I will send you a picture of mine. Good luck!

Do you know any other sites other than the one you used that are selling the 2009?  That would be great if I could find a 2009, because it has all the features I am looking for.  I don't see any difference in the 2010 that justifies how much more it is!  And actually I am looking at both the Mica and the Jake, so a picture would be awesome!

I bought my uppa baby in Jan 2008 and used it with my son.  He's 2 1/2 now and while I use the umbrella stroller more often- it's only because I have to take him on the subway to daycare and the uppa baby is too big to carry to the subway.  Any time I'm around my neighborhood walking, I use the uppa baby.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

I love the basket, I love the wheels and how they handle city streets, grass, gravel and every other surface.  The only complaint I ever had was that it didn't sit completely upright.  It wasn't a problem until my son starting eating real food and wanted to sit upright.  The 2008 model doesn't sit up straight.  I thought the 2009 didn't either and that they fixed it for 2010.  That may explain why people are selling their 2009 models.

The company was great to work with when I had a problem with the safety bar that goes across where the baby sits (the rubber part came off).  They just asked for my address and sent a new one without any proof of purchase, receipts, etc.  They were just a wonderful small company so I highly recommend them.  I know you can send the frame of the older models in to the company and for about $200, you can get the 2010 version so I'm thinking I might do that if I don't get a double stroller this time.

As for where to get them- sorry- I can't help with that.  I can't remember where I bought mine.  I have the Graco snug ride and the adapter works great with it.

I had a cheap stroller at first and the day I used the uppa baby for the first time, I said to my dh that it just paid for itself because it was so good (my ds stayed asleep the whole time).  It's worth every penny!

3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again

  • I have the I'Coo Targo.  It has a similar look to the Bugaboo or Uppa Baby, but I picked it because I liked some of the features and the overall look more.  It has a universal car seat adapter that comes with it.  I obviously haven't used it yet, but I'm happy with it so far.  I did my research and found that very few people had anything bad to say about it.  It's also a bit less expensive than the Uppa Baby.
  • I've got the '09 version. Haven't used it yet (besides wheeling the curious cats around the house). But I love the quality and build of it. I've got the Chicco carseat with adapter and it works flawlessly. Amazon shows a few colors available for next day delivery if you're in a real rush.
  • giggle.com has it but in limited quantity --- you could call and order over the phone maybe. it's $579

We don't have the uppa but we got a bugaboo and love it. We live in a city and walk all the time (plus we have a dog) so a good stroller was a priority for us. I'd return your current one if you're not happy with it...esp. if it's something you'll be using everyday.
