As a mother to a daughter I am appalled  that these 8 year old girls are dressed like this and gyrating around in front of what looks to be 100's of people!  What happened to letting little girls be little girls...gosh knows that there are going to be plenty of years with a girl having to deal with sexuality, etc...why exploit it now at such a young age?  I just can't fathom this at all, and it scares me as a mom of a girl as to what things will be like when she is 8?  Wow.

I have an 8 year old step-daughter, and I can tell you that she would NOT be doing this dance! It amazes me what parents let their young children do. These girls can obviously dance and have amazing skills...I think they could have been put to much better use.

Unfortunately, for many young girls it only gets worse. I'm a high school teacher and I often can't believe what kids talk about and have done by the time they get to me in the 9th grade. And it's even worse hearing the 12th graders talk!

I saw this on the news and yes absolutely appalling. What I find more disturbing is that they interviewed some parents and they were accusing the media of overly sexualizing the dance routine. The outfits alone were inappropriate. My sisters both danced in high school and I saw a team get disqualified for less inappropriate outfits than that.

I think the outfits are more appalling than anything. They look like mini strippers up there. ugh.

I'm with Sarah on being disturbed that the parents defended their routine.  They also said that that video should have never gotten on YouTube. 

Way to miss the point folks!!  Your kids look and dance like strippers and that is just wrong!  Beyonce wore more in her video than those kids did!

I was in dance until I was 16 and there is NO way in hell my parents would have let me wear something like that, much less dance that way.

I agree with everyone else. Sad thing is, we have a dance studio in Huntsville that does similar things and it is NOT where Taylor dances or ever will. It is so sad.

I have heard about this studio.  My sister in law warned me about it if Aubrey ever wants to take dance.  My niece takes at Ann's and if Aubrey wants to do dance I'll probably send her there.

As a dance instructor who has completed extensively and is currently getting a high school dance team ready for competition I am also appalled! I find the whole thing over the top in too many ways to count...the song choice, the suggestive movements and the costume selection...all too much!
