Re: HELLO CONSTIPATION!

  • Sometimes if I take a firm piece of fruit (apple, pear, peach, etc.) and warm it in the microwave for 5 seconds or so, it helps me a little bit.  Drinking more water can also make it easier sometimes, bc if you're dehydrated, your "stuff" gets harder.

  • Cup of coffee (regular, not decaf) always does the trick for me.
  • Benefiber worked for me.

  • Coffee and prune juice in the morning. Works wonders.

  • Ugh, I am with you on this!  I have yet to find anything that works for me.  I drink about a gallon of water a day, eat Fiber One cereal (14 g of fiber per 1/2 cup), and eat tons of fruits and veggies.  There isn't any reason why I should be so "backed up," but I am!!  Please let me know if you find anything that works!!

  • I know this feeling all too well. Apple juice in the morning worked for me. Life cereal worked during the afternoon.  Good luck!
  • I've been eating activia everyday since about 5weeks. I'm still slightly backed up but I get some out every day (I call them bunny poops because it looks like a bunch of pellets). After having really bad IBS w/ constipation years ago (I couldn't go for weeks at a time), anything out makes you feel better.

There is a laxative called Miralax that acts by pulling water into your intestines by osmosis. The problem is that your body may adjust to it if you use it long enough.

Fiber works for many people, especially if you aren't getting enough in your diet due to food aversions/cravings.

Like a PP said, make sure that you are drinking enough water!

  • psyllium fiber capsules. they are the miracle cure. i tried everything that everyone suggested, and the only thing that would work for me was 2 colace per night, plus miralax. but i didn't want to get hooked on taking all that every night, plus it can make your stomach all yucky - then a fellow pregnant woman told me about the psyllium capsules. i got mine at target. the same active ingredient as metamucil, but not half as nasty. i take 4 pills a night with 8 oz of water. works GREAT. i go every day, and not just pellets. more than i probably went before i got pregnant. try it !

  • You ladies are awesome! I have a lot to try!! Thanks so so much!
