can't you just close your windows? I know it sucks but if that's the only time your neighbor can mow his lawn according to his own schedule, i don't really think you have any place to tell him he can't.

Yup.  I agree.  Completely sucks, but you can't tell your neighbor when to mow his lawn.  My neighbor has blown leaves before at that time and I've been ready to hit the roof.  Still, I can't say anything to him.  He works until 6pm.

  • I would be aggravated too & I feel your pain. It started storming really bad here just as I was trying to get DD to sleep. Every time it would thunder she would freak out & just as she would calm back down it would thunder again.

    Agreed.

You should offer to mow your neighbors lawn for him during the day instead.

    Other options:

    • Move to more rural location
    • Let your baby get used to sleeping through noise.

I have the opposite problem, my neighbor likes to mow at 6am. And although you can't really tell your neighbor when to mow his lawn you can talk to him nicely about trying to get it done before DS goes to sleep if it's at all possible. Be understanding of his schedule, but also make sure he knows that you have a LO who needs his sleep and if he can be accommodating than that would be wonderful. It never hurts to ask politely.

I was just about to say "that's why we live in the country."  We also don't have an HOA, so its not the end of the world if the grass gets a little tall.   We're laid back around here...it can wait for the weekend.

  • We have noise ordinances.  You can to call the cops if you are disturbed by the noise your neighbor makes between 9pm and 7am (in this part of town, different in different areas).  However, at 7:01 am every weekday morning, you can be sure to be woken up!
