I was the same way about Uggs. Then I got a pair of fake 9 West ones. I lived in them this winter. I love that Uggs made wearing slippers in public socially acceptiable. But I would never, ever try to convince someone they were attactive or were anything other than boot-slippers.
Also, I am a total klutz. I needed something flat and comfortable that would keep snow out of my shoes while carrying Oisin. I was terrified of falling with him like I did over the summer.
I am with you. I have never owned a pair of either. DH has a pair of crocs he wears to do yard work. He likes them, because they are super easy to clean. Allie has a few pair she got as gifts. They are perfect to wear tot he beach for her. That is the only time she has worn them.
1. I live in GA. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that anyone could even remotely need a pair of Uggs here. Ever. Maybe if you live in the Arctic tundra, but not here. Ever.
2. Crocs are fug on anyone. I don't care who you are or how old you are. I will never put them on myself and if I won't wear them, there's no way I'm buying those fugly things for Joshua.
I majorly judge when someone attempts to pass them off as business casual. Big ol' negatory on that one.
Thankfully I don't have to deal with Uggs much here in Florida. Crocs on the otherhand.....out of control. Why would anyone think they are appropriate for anything work related?
I felt that way about Uggs too until I got some this past winter and I absolutely love them. Most comfortable thing I have ever put on my feet. And DH thinks they are ugly but I actually think the ones I got are very cute. I got these:
I hate crocs but I got some imitation ones for gardening that I could just spray off. They are flourescent orange with rhinestones. Just so I was sure that I had the ugliest possible shoe known to mankind. It makes me laugh every time I put them on.

uggs, to me, look like items of apparel worn by people who live in snow and work in snow. even though I may complain about winter here, I do neither.
crocs as well, weren't they originally designed to be boat shoes? I can totally see wearing them when gardening (for all ages) or at the beach (for kids mostly)... but out to dinner? not so much. and with the fur inserts? kinda make me gag.

What? That's how I agree with people.

Not a fan of Crocs (for adults, I like them for little kids).
I wear Uggs because it's damn cold and snowy here in the winter.

Flame away - I love my UGGs so much. I wear them the minute it gets even a little cold, I wear them all over the house, I am wearing them as I type.
I maybe, possibly, own five pairs.
And I admit that they are ugly and unflattering. From my cold, dead feet ladies. I want to be buried in them.
Jess will you entertain a three way?
I also agree.

Screw weekend wear. Those are strictly "put them in the garbage and walk back barefoot wear."

ETA- I loathe crocs. I just can't do it. My mom has a pair she only wears when gardening which I understand but in public its a NO!
Love them both.
I am all about comfort. I think they look ugly as sin but I dont careeeeee.
Ditto. Nothing beats throwing on your Uggs when it's 20 below and having your feet all toasty and cozy.
