Hi girls,
I'm having some trouble with anxiety and my OB suggested that I try zoloft-she said that it is the safest to use while breastfeeding. I'm still nervous about it, though. Anyone else out there who is taking zoloft while breastfeeding? What info have you read about how safe it is for baby? Also, has anyone found zoloft to be effective for anxiety? I was on lexapro before getting pregnant, but my OB said that one isn't safe for breastfeeding. Thanks for any advice that you have!
Re: zoloft, anxiety, and breastfeeding
Hi! I was also very nervous taking Zoloft and BFing, but I did a lot of research about it online and it REALLY is safe. I believe even Jack Newman's website (or maybe Kellymom or one of the other similar highly-regarded BF websites) said it is one of the safest drugs to use while BF. I can't remember the exact #s, but very very little of it passes through to your breastmilk.
I just talked to my PPD therapist this week about going back on Zoloft. She has diagnosed me with PPD as well as post partum anxiety with OCD tendencies...yeah I'm all kinds of hormonally whacked out! lol - Anyway, she said that Zoloft is THE best drug for use with anxiety.
GL!
